We met Anne and James through James' delightful mother! She'd been put in charge of finding wedding music for this perfect pair and their elegant wedding ceremony at the Lougheed House in Calgary, AB. It became clear after our consultation that this couple wasn't worried about the minor details surrounding their wedding day but were looking at the bigger picture, and for music in particular, it seemed that the atmosphere we created with our performance was a priority over the actual pieces we played - which leads me to think that they carry this same attitude throughout their relationship together too. Don't sweat the small stuff - beautiful!
Although they initially wanted an outdoor ceremony at the historic location, this October afternoon was a particularly chilly one and instead they had their guests tucked nice and cozy inside the main hall. An absolutely gorgeous alternative, in my opinion! Their ceremony was full of fun-loving, beautifully quirky moments; including a reading of a questionnaire by the marriage commissioner, filled out by Anne and James prior to their ceremony, revealing a few unique qualities and special personal moments in their relationship, as well as a reading from the adventures of Winnie the Pooh (absolutely adorable!). There was so much love in this room that I found myself keeping tears away while watching others letting them flow freely.
Anne and James chose a unique mix of styles for their ceremony music. For their guests before and after the ceremony, what was most important to them was for us to create an upbeat, happy environment. Anne walked down the aisle to our rendition of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah'. Their registry signing was sweet and simple with 'Stand by Me', and Anne and James walked out together with a skip in their step to 'Hard to Concentrate' by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
If this picture is Anne and James in a nutshell, I wish we could know them better. Such a sweet, special couple, and we're so thankful to have played a small part in their enormously amazing day! I'd also like to give a quick shout-out to ReallyBadKitty. See that amazing bouquet in the first and fourth photos (and the flower in Anne's hair)? They're made of felt and buttons, and they're gorgeous!! Thanks for having us Anne and James!
“Hilary and Noel were a true pleasure to work with for our wedding. From our first meeting, we were blown away by how talented, creative, friendly and flexible Hilary and Noel were. They made great music suggestions that really set a fun and happy tone for our ceremony. Thank you for playing such beautiful music that made our wedding day so special; we can’t recommend you highly enough!”
